The Peach State Chapter will be holding its meeting on Saturday, Mar 22, 2025 with Jay Stallman, who will present a program on making a tea caddy.

The photo shown here is courtesy of Jay Stallman.  This is the piece Jay will demonstrate and explain the build. Jay will also demonstrate making the eagle patera, shell patera, banding, inlet corners, and hardware installation.

The program will be Saturday March 22, 2025 at the Woodcraft in Chattanooga, TN fTea Caddyrom 9AM until all questions are answered.

Ken Johnson and Bob Baker will show and discuss other Tea Caddie forms and builds they have done over the years.

Members will have a show & tell session with items they have brought and recently finished. The all day meeting will be $50 to members and to the public. Anyone under the age of 18 will be free. There will be blueprints of the tea caddy available for a minimum reproduction cost. The Woodcraft address is 5824 Brainerd Road, Chattanooga TN.

Jay’s program will be on the construction of a Tea Caddy.  The Tea Caddy is traditionally a small, lockable, highly decorated wooden box that is used to store tea leaves.  They were introduced in Europe from China as a way to secure and store extremely expensive tea leaves in private houses. The American colonies expanded on the design and construction using mahogany, rosewood, tortoiseshell, brass, silver with extensive embellishment.
