The Chase Home gets its name from its first owner, Samuel Chase, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence for Maryland and Supreme Court justice. The Chase Home is also known as the Chase-Lloyd House for the wealthy plantation-owning Lloyd family who lived here for generations after Edward Lloyd IV bought the half finished home from Samuel Chase. Today the house exists as a monument to Georgian architecture and an important part of American history.
