Looking for a subject for my first table at NBSS, I was inspired by the two tables shown on p392 of American Furniture: The Federal Period by Charles F. Montgomery. This design is a combination of details selected from both tables and allowed me to work on turning, carving, sliding dovetails, coped shoulders, and finishing without being completely overwhelmed. Ironically, the biggest challenge was fitting the brass casters.
