This is my interpretation of an original "Lady's Desk" found in the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA).

The original was built 1795-1805 in Wilmington, NC; maker unknown.
For the original, mahogany was used as the primary wood; the secondary woods were yellow pine and poplar.

The reference drawings and photo were obtained from the book "Furniture in the Southern Style" by Robert Lang and Glen H. Huey

Primary Wood: Cherry
Secondary Wood: Poplar

The finish is antique tongue oil and paste wax.

The hardware is from Horton Brass.
