This Philadelphia secretary is modeled after one featured in a series of articles entitled "18th Century Pennsylvania Secretary" by Lonnie Bird in volumes 154-156 of Fine Woodworking magazine. The wood is claro walnut and it is finished with a French polish technique. The frame and panel doors are solid walnut veneered with crotch walnut and the desk lid is book matched crotch walnut veneer. The drawers are crossbanded with satinwood veneer. The secondary wood is poplar. The brasses are Chippendale style pulls from Ball and Ball.
