I call this my 1776 document box. The Federal period is by far my favorite when it comes to furniture. With that being said I used that as inspiration for this federal inspired cherry document box. I inlaid the lid with an eagle which was typical of the federal period, American flag inlay banding, satinwood banding on the front of the box, and an inlay fan on the front.

Hardware: I used Horton Brasses PB-405 hinges. For the lock I again used Horton Brasses LK-23 small box lock.

Finish: I used Waterlox original finish on the box, and Howard Feed N Wax for the polish.

Primary wood: Cherry (lid, body, and bottom all made of solid cherry)
