I designed this Cherry Queen Anne Desk from a generic Queen Anne Lowboy design. It is made from solid cherry with curly maple for the drawer sides. I started by experimenting with a few concepts for the cabriole legs. Next, the body was constructed with floating mortise and tenon dominoes, and all dovetails are cut by hand. The carved shells on the drawers were my first ever attempt at any kind of carving by hand. Plenty of room was left in the design for seasonal expansion.
The beautiful brass hardware comes from Horton Brasses. The piece was finished with a coat of Boiled Linseed Oil, followed by 3 coats of a 1# cut of Blonde Shellac from shellacfinishes.com.
