SAPFM Charitable Donations

The Society of American Period Furniture Makers has the mission of fostering the understanding and appreciation of American Period Furniture. Some of the ways the organization and its members pursue this mission include:

Publications - SAPFM publishes an annual Journal and a quarterly e-magazine, with the goal of coming as close as possible to the experience of being in the shop of an excellent builder, looking over a shoulder to pick up the fine points and walking away with a new understanding.

  • American Period Furniture is the annual journal featuring how-to-articles related to all aspects of period furniture making, including tools, techniques, design, and the history of the craft and its makers.
  • Pins & Tales is SAPFM's quarterly e-magazine. This publication provides timely information on member activities and in-depth articles on particular aspects of period furniture construction.

Education - The General Fund is used to support SAPFM's broader educational goals through member meetings, its online presence (e.g., website and Forum), and other educational activities. SAPFM has established a separate Education Fund to directly support woodworking programs and/or full-time students pursuing studies with an interest in period furniture construction and restoration.

Member meetings - A key goal of SAPFM is enabling like-minded people to meet, share, and learn from each other. These gatherings provide access to some of the most knowledgeable period furniture experts in the country.

  • SAPFM is an annual sponsor of the Colonial Williamsburg conference, Working Wood in the 18th Century.
  • The SAPFM Annual Conference is held at a different location each year and usually includes side-trips to sites of period furniture interest.
  • Regional chapters across the nation hold meetings throughout the year, physically and virtually, making this valuable resource available to everyone regardless of location.

The Board of Directors will apply your donation to support these and other activities focused on furthering the mission and vision of SAPFM. We appreciate your consideration.
