While doing some restoration french polishing, I noticed something with my pads that I am at a loss to figure out.  I am using 100% linen cloth with cheese cloth as the inner core.  When I start out, it looks and works fine but if I stop and put the rubber in a plastic bag and come back to it...

I am restoring a table that has a center post , four legs and connecting stretchers that are all carved barley twist.  One of the stretchers is missing and I need to make a new one but having never made a barley twist, I am stumped on how to layout one.  Any help  would be appreciated. Mike
