Winterthur Museum seeks an experienced museum professional to serve as the Lois F. and Henry S. McNeil Curator/Associate Curator of Furniture. A key member of the curatorial team, the successful applicant will be a dynamic and innovative furniture scholar with deep knowledge of American furniture.
Primary responsibilities include:
1) Curating Winterthur's outstanding collection of American furniture, including acquisition, cataloging, research, exhibition, and publications.
2) Teaching at a graduate level for the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture, including coursework and the supervision of theses, internships, and independent study.
3) Participation in public programs for both specialist and general audiences.
4) Development of relationships with museum donors, collectors, and members.
5) Collaborating with conservation colleagues on both preventative care and conservation treatment of the collection.
