Tidewater Chapter members,

We are set for our Spring Chapter Meeting in one month, on Saturday, April 8th. It will be held at the brand new American Revolution Museum, at 200 Water Street in Yorktown, VA.  23680 . Our tentative agenda is as follows:

8:30-9:00.    Arrival
9:00-9:15 Discuss agenda and SAPFM business items

9:15-10:15  Compare and contrast Roubo vs. Latta banding/stringing/inlay methods -- Demo.

10:15-10:30  Break

10:30-11:30  Overview of Preston spoke shaves. Contrast with Stanley/others. Where to find / how to rehab. Also, rehabbing wooden spoke shaves

11:30-12:30. Box lunch

12:30-1:30. Guided tour of the new museum

1:45-2:45 hand made moldings / selecting stock / using hollows and rounds / Scrapers

2:45-3:30  discuss air and kiln dried lumber sources in our area/species available . Also, accessible (user friendly) museums in area.

3:30 - 3:45. Break

3:45-4:30 Show and tell--member made pieces/projects to be discussed--set date for next meeting. (Please bring small to medium size objects).

4:30-5:00. Additional time in Museum or their 18th c. Farm just outside

There is a cafe in the Museum that will provide our coffee in a.m. and our box lunch.
The cost for the box lunch is $10 and the cost of Museum admission is $12.60 (there is no cost for the meeting room as we have met the requirements to be an educational group).

Please let us know asap that you are coming,  what you might be bringing, and what else you might like to see in the program.

We will be among the very first visitors to the new Museum, and I think we will all enjoy the program and the setting. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
