Brooke shows the group why you don't need to be obsessive about the tools you use to make dovetails. Brooke demonstrates how you can even cut dovetails with a hacksaw and still stay on a line with practice. Normally, he uses a vintage Western-style, open-handled dovetail saw.

Using a small chisel, like one 1/4 inch wide, Brooke removes the remaining waste up to the line. He then puts the chisel in the line and tips the chisel slightly forward to undercut the line. A sharp chisel is essential.
