After rough shaping a spindle on the shave horse with a drawknife, David uses a spokeshave to finish the spindle.

David uses a home-made steamer to prepare the wood for bending. After steaming wood for 40 minutes, David places wood in bending forms to bend bow and arm.

David uses white pine for the seat. He drills the holes for the spindles and posts using a brace and bevel gauge, contours the seat with a scorp and shapes the seat edge with a drawknife.

David locates tall spindle holes on arm using dividers. Then he drills tall spindle holes in arm. Next he places tall spindles into seat holes and through the arm.
