David Wright begins the program splitting a log outside with a froe. After David explained the process, everyone had the opportunity to split a log.

Six shave horses gave everyone the opportunity to shape a spindle.

David shapes the arm with a drawknife and a hand plane.

After rough shaping a spindle on the shave horse with a drawknife, David uses a spokeshave to finish the spindle.

David uses a home-made steamer to prepare the wood for bending. After steaming wood for 40 minutes, David places wood in bending forms to bend bow and arm.

David uses white pine for the seat. He drills the holes for the spindles and posts using a brace and bevel gauge, contours the seat with a scorp and shapes the seat edge with a drawknife.

David determines the stretcher angles by using two straight edges. Then
he drills the holes into the legs using a drill press and holding jig.

David begins to assemble the lower part of the chair by applying hide glue to the legs.

Post holes in the chair arm are first drilled and then reamed.

David locates tall spindle holes on arm using dividers. Then he drills tall spindle holes in arm. Next he places tall spindles into seat holes and through the arm.

David drills holes for spindles into bow. He then places bow over the spindle ends.

After teaching a fantastic class on building a Windsor Chair, David Wright takes a well-deserved rest in the completed chair.
