SAPFM Blue Ridge Chapter members, and all of SAPFM,
It's time for the Spring chapter meeting and we have something special
planned. Our theme is "Furniture of the Shenandoah Valley." We will
meet in Winchester on May 19. It will be a full day. We will assemble
at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley (MSV) and from there we will tour
two of the top private collections of Valley furniture. Neither of the
collections is regularly open to the public. In between the house tours
we will have a tour of valley furniture in the MSV. This tour will be
led by curator Nick Powers, author Elizabeth "Betsy" Davison, and our own Jeff
Headley and Steve Hamilton. As an added bonus, photography will be
permitted during the tours.
Because these are private homes, we need to limit the attendance to 30
people, first come, first served.
If you wish to attend, send me an email with the following information:
- Your name as you wish it on the name tag
_____________________________________
- Number of guests and their names for the name tags.
____________________________________
I anticipate having to cut off the number of attendees so if your plans
change please let me know as soon as possible.
Cost of this meeting (including coffee and donuts, museum fee, box lunch)
will be $35.
Below is the tentative schedule for the May 19 meeting.
9:00 - doors open at MSV, coffee and donuts
9:15 - short business meeting, organize groups to leave for first house
tour
9:45 - depart for Red House, home of David and Jenny Powers
10:00 - house tour
11:45 - return to MSV
12:00 - box lunch on the grounds
12:45 - Museum tour, Powers, Davison, Headley, Hamilton
2:15 - depart for home of Linda Ross
2:30 - house tour
4:30 - tour completed, refreshments and wrap up
We hope to see as many of you as possible at this special meeting.
