Pennsylvania Spice Cabinet Hinge Issue

I am reproducing a Pennsylvania Spice Cabinet. The door is completely inset into the carcase sides. I have installed butt hinges and realized that the hinge barrel will interfere with drawers when they are withdrawn. I am looking for advice on dealing with this problem. In looking at originals, many are overlaid on the hinge side and inset on the lock side. Perhaps that was a period solution to this problem. However there are many that are inset on the hinge side. See photos. Thanks.

There is an easy fix to your problem. If your hinge barrel projects say 1/8", add a 3/16" thick piece of wood to the inside of the cabinet between the drawer dividers. Do this on both sides of the cabinet for looks. This will make the drawer width a little smaller. Then when you pull to drawer out it will clear the hinge barrel.
