Attached is a map of how to get to Richard's place.  Basically, if you're coming from the West, get on Highway 36 to Stillwater, go North through downtown, and about 1/2 mile North of where Highway 96 intersects from the left is a sign that says "Pawnee Ave. N." and points uphill. Go uphill, turn right at the dumpster at the top and left at the next street. You can see my shop (taupe color) on your right. 9585 Pawnee Ave.

If you're coming from the East, Wisconsin 64 and over the Stillwater bridge, turn right and follow the above directions through town and to my place.

Talk about where we want to go with our group and what we want to do. Field trips to Chipstone or Milwaukee Museum or a local museum, getting together for a workshop like building a Windsor chair, review of and advance planning for something like The Woodworking Shows.
Let's make a new list of topics we want to cover. We want to know what you want to see and what you want to share
10:30 to 11:30 Tony will demonstrate carving a ball and claw foot. Bring your carving tools if you want to try it.
11:30 to ? discuss what you are doing and either seek or dispense advice.

All,
We had a great meeting at Richard Cortright’s shop.  Attending were 7 current members and 5 new or prospective members.  We went over our business and chose The Landing    http://www.threeriversparkdistrict.org/outdoor_ed/murphys_landing/     as our next meeting site. We plan to build something which is yet to be determined, possibly a sawbuck table or wooden rakes. We may camp over night.

Early Minnesota Trades
August 2 (Saturday)  10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
August 3 (Sunday)    12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Come visit the many artisans polishing their skills at Eagle Creek Village. From blacksmithing to woodworking and spinning to weaving see how lives in early Minnesota were sustained by the tools of the trade. Take a ride on a trolley pulled by Percheron draft horses and play games. Special appearance by musician Ross Sutter both days. Gift shop and food service available for purchase
Ages: 12+, $8.50; Ages: 3-11 and Seniors $7; Children under 3 are free.

We will be planning a field trip in the future, either to Milwaukee Museum of Art and Chipstone or something more local depending on what takes our fancy.
Future topics for meetings will be gilding, turning, frame and panel construction, making and using wooden planes, finishing for artificial age and glazing.

Tony Kubalak did a nice presentation on carving a ball and claw foot, thanks Tony!
Several items were donated and raffled off, some books donated by John Walkowiak. Some Marking gauges made and donated by Dean Jansa and a kitchen clock movement donated by Mike Siemsen with the caveat that it comes back cased in 6 months. (Good Luck Mike Torison!)
