All Blue Ridge Chapter members and any interested SAPFM members and friends,

The Blue Ridge Chapter will meet on March 11 at Gunston Hall, George Mason's plantation home, built in 1759 on Mason Neck, not far from Mount Vernon. The house features ornamental woodwork by William Buckland and George Bernard Sears.  The day will feature special tours of the house and of the research library which is open to the public.  The library features a number of books of special interest to SAPFM members including a complete set of Diderot's Encyclopedia and some of the leading furniture books of the period.  This is possibly the best library of its kind between Winterthur and MESDA.  In the afternoon, Curator Samantha Dorsey will give us up close access to a number of pieces from the collection, including several that are in storage and not on display to the public.  Lunch will be provided in the visitors center.

Photography WILL BE ALLOWED, except for a few pieces on loan from other collections.  Also, William Duffield has a large set of photographs he took on an earlier visit when the house was under restoration and the furniture was removed.  William is willing to share these pictures if you bring media so that you can copy them.

There will be a few Blue Ridge Chapter shirts for sale as well

The cost for this meeting is $30, this covers coffee in the morning, lunch, rental fee for the space and admission to Gunston Hall.

We will have a limited amount of time for show and tell but lots of space to display your current projects or tools and jigs of interest so bring them along.

No organized dinner is planned for after this meeting but there are restaurants in the area.

We're hoping for a big turnout for what could be one of our best meetings and unique chance to look at furniture the public doesn't get to see!
