LONE STAR CHAPTER AT BAYOU BEND

The Lone Star Chapter was again invited to Bayou Bend to perform 18th century woodworking techniques at the Open House on Sunday, April 20, 2008.  These demonstrations tie into the fabulous furniture collection of Miss Ima Hogg at Bayou Bend, part of the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston.  Lone Star members Gerry Shoemaker, Fred Sandoval, Jim Thompson and Norman Landry were on hand to demonstrate making windsor chairs, carving a flame finial and carving a ball and claw foot while visitors looked on.  We were able to answer the many questions visitors had about the woodworking techniques of colonial cabinetmakers of years past.  A good time was had by all!
