January meeting

We had a great meeting with the door open at 8:30 and socializing until 9:30. We then held our business meeting where we discussed our plans and direction for the coming year. We will continue to meet Quarterly with our next meeting planned for May at The Landing in Shakopee. We decided to continue with our meetings being as much social gatherings as demonstrations. It was decided that we would have "mini workshops" throughout the year whenever someone needs some help or decides to plan one. We will be looking into field trips to The Milwaukee Museum/Chipstone and a 19th century turning shop in Carver County.
As always I am impressed by the depth of knowledge and skill in such a small group of people. We had a great demonstration on Shrink Box making by Tom Dengler. A marvelous hand tool process where the craftsman hollows out a green limb and fits a dry bottom into a groove in the hollow cylinder. When the box shrinks the bottom becomes tight. Tom's Demonstration was reminiscent of the Great Roy Underhill with hand tools and blood in the proper amounts.
We had 12 in attendance and visitor Roger Knudson won the set of chisels donated by Tom Dengler
