We're on track for a face to face meeting of the SAPFM Indiana chapter on Saturday 16 October 2021 at Jeff Juday's shop, 3251 Sheridan Rd, Noblesville, IN. We'll start about 9:30 with a show and tell so please bring either parts of or a completed project to show to the folks. Then Dirk Herr-Hoyman will show us Veneering and Laser Marquetry. Veneering and marquetry enables you to add detailing to your projects. This presentation first gives an overview of using veneers, both purchased and resawn. One example of veneering is a panel door that uses marquetry. Dirk will go through using a Glowforge laser cutter and a computer drawing with Inkscape on to create a panel door. Come and see how Dirk uses modern tools to spice up your period furniture.
We'll then break for lunch. After lunch Dave Knuth will talk about applying a Boiled Linseed Oil and Beeswax finish to his Chippendale chair.
Next, Ray Dusman, who has recently completed his tall case clock, will discuss the process. This is the clock on the Mack S Headley and Sons website. Ray will be bringing pictures of the project and hopefully the bonnet from his clock. He will discuss the process of building the clock and his efforts to complete it in time for a family wedding.
As always, please RSVP if you'll be attending the 16 October meeting and bring a friend. There are lots of woodworkers in our area and a guest could easily become a member.
