The Indiana Chapter had a great meeting yesterday with 11 members heading out to Justin Kauffman's shop.  The meeting and cookout was a big success, even with the rain.  Special thanks go out to Justin for allowing the chapter to have the meeting at his shop.
The meeting started out with Justin demonstrating the process of cutting out a cabriole leg, shaping the leg using the 5/7 rule and then carve a ball and claw foot.  He showed the importance of layout, chisel selection, and scrapers/files to achieve the end result.
After lunch we discussed finishing techniques.  Mike Weber showed his step by step process on how he finishes tiger maple using dye, oil and shellac.  Dave Mikoryak discussed his milk paint finishing process with his recipe he uses on his wool stands.  Tom Ford finished up with his techniques for French polish.
Jerry Burroughs and Ernie Hobbs brought in some of their past chair projects for show and tell.  They discussed the joinery and finishing procedures they used during the construction of the chairs.  Tod Herrli also brought in a new hand plane design he recently completed.
As a wrap up, the Fall meeting agenda was set with a few potential dates discussed.  More information on the Fall meeting will be sent out at a later date.

Thanks, Dave Redlin
