All,

A quick note to inform everyone that the 2014 Spring Meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, May 24th.  We will be having a guest speaker in attendance so no volunteers will be recruited.  The location will be the 'modern' shop at Conner Prairie.

The speaker will be Kaare Loftheim.  Kaare has worked in the Anthony Hay Cabinetmakers Shop at Colonial Williamsburg since 1980. Besides working in the shop, he has participated in most of the annual woodworking symposiums, and been a guest with Roy Underhill and Bob Vila.

Topic for the meeting is "Walking through the Layout and Construction of an 18th C. English (tidewater Virginia) Side Chair".  Additional topics covered will include proportioning, layout, sequence of construction/joinery, and sculptural refinements from a mid- eighteenth century cabinetmaker’s perspective.

Meeting details will be sent out at a later date.

The meeting is open to all who have an ACTIVE membership.  If your membership has lapsed, please take a moment and renew.

Thanks,

Dave Redlin

Hello All,

The Indiana Chapter's 2014 Spring Meeting is May 24th at Conner Prairie, located in Fishers, IN.  The meeting location will be in the MODERN SHOP.  Please look for signs posted for directions once you enter the park.

Presenter will be Kaare Loftheim.  Kaare has worked in the Cabinetmakers Shop in Colonial Williamsburg since 1980, where he currently supervises the work.  His initial education was a major in biology and minor in chemistry.  He served several years in the early 70's with the U.S. Army in Germany, and then returned to his alma mater in Missouri where he earned a B.S. in industrial technology and art. In 1979 Kaare returned to Virginia where he was raised.  During his thirty four years with Colonial Williamsburg he has participated in most of the annual woodworking symposiums, and been a guest with Roy Underhill and Bob Vila.  He occasionally teaches privately and especially enjoys hands-on instruction with small groups.

As a reminder, I need a "head-count" as soon as possible.  This would allow the Conner Prairie  team enough time to make their arrangements.

Dinner on Saturday night is open to all attendees.  RSVP will required to secure location.

Directions to Conner Prairie ... follow link and see attached map.  If you have trouble finding the shop, please give me a call.

Please bring your own seating. May not need but best to be prepared.
