Glue Pot Rebuild

Has anybody out there had the need to rebuild their Hold Heet glue pot?
Mine started tripping the GFCI.  I had taken it apart once but now I find out that the insulation in it is asbestos. Any ideas.

It sounds like it could be a fire hazzard.  Just toss it out and buy a new one.  Better to be safe than sorry.

You can only be sure of asbestos if it is tested.  If it is, in fact, asbestos you have a hazardous materials situation!

It's highly unlikely that the insulation material is asbestos.  Asbestos hasn't been commonly used in consumer products for many years.  Typically, the insulation in consumer heating devices is fiberglass.

But, if your glue pot is tripping your GFCI or breakers, it's toast, and is unrepairable.  What usually happens to such devices is that the heating element has a direct short in it.
