glue brushes

My glue brush tips have turned into mushrooms, so it's time to replace them.

I was wondering how do you store your glue brushes to keep the tips nicely shaped. I just toss mine in my glue pot which results in the mushrooms. Do you do anything different that makes them last a long time?

Also Where do you buy your brushes from?

I use a brush from Bess at Olde Mill. I've used it for 15 years and it is like new. I think they have something to do with gold leaf, but there is no metal. It's what she has in her glue pot.

"Gesso brushes are useful in applying gesso, for stippling and excellent for hide glue applications."

I've been using the same French glue brushes from "The Best Things" for at least 5 maybe 10 years with no special care.
