GREAT LAKES CHAPTER APRIL 2011
MEETING AGENDA


Great Lakes Chapter October Meeting-Agenda has been set for Saturday and Sunday, April 30th & May 1st, 2011 at the Livonia Senior Center, Livonia, Michigan. This meeting will be free to all SAPFM dues paying members. There will be a charge of $5 per person. This will cover Saturday and Sunday's pop, coffee, pastries, water, rental fee and snacks.
We will be having lunch at a restaurant (Sam's Place) next to the Senior Center.
I'm looking forward to this meeting. It is always a pleasure to meet everyone and share our knowledge.

SATURDAY, April 30, 2011
1. Open doors at 10am. Arrive, relax and have some coffee.
2. Demonstrations:
3. 10:30-11:00am.  Bruce Beck will give a report on Williamsburg Conference.
4. 11:00-12 noon Cliff Durand an avid tool collector will give a presentation the different characterizes of antique hand tools and their uses.
5. 12 noon-1pm. Lunch. The restaurant (Sam's Place) next to the Senior Center.
6. 1:00pm-2:00pm Keith Mengel will give a demonstration on how to do upholstery.
7. 2:00-3:00pm. John Fitzpatrick will present the use of different glues; characteristics and properties.
8. 3:00-4:00 Jim Scarsella will show how he does leaf carving on bowls and other objects. Although not a period furniture technique, I believe you will enjoy the presentation.
9. 4:00-5:00 Dan Reahard has kindly invited use to his home where you will see an astonishing collection of furniture he has built. Of particular interest will be the newly completed Highboy.
10. Dinner at Bennigan's restaurant.
   Dinner starts at 5:30pm. There will be maps for directions to the restaurant at the meeting.

SUNDAY, May 1, 2011
11. 9-9:30am.  Dale Ausherman will demo using hand planes to form a radius edge on a circular table top.
12. 9:30-10:00am. Rich Eschebach will give an update on the latest tall case clock he is currently building.
13. 10-11 am. Bob Compton will demonstrate carving a scallop shell.
14. 11:00-12 noon. Wrap up. Ideas for the next meeting and members who will volunteer to be presenters.
