On December 9 2006 there will be a meeting to explore the possibility of resurrecting a New England Chapter. Letters have been mailed concerning this but in case anyone has not received a notice of this meeting the following basic details are posted. Phil Lowe has agreed to host this meeting at his shop and give the main program which is a guided tour of the Peabody Essex Museum. The museum has a large collection of John and Thomas Seymour furniture, with carvings by Thomas Wightman. Phil has done the restoration work on some of these pieces, so we will be getting first hands knowledge.

Date - Saturday December 9, 2006

Place - Phil Lowe’s Furniture Institute of Massachusetts
116 Water Street, Beverly MA

Program
9.00 – 9:30 Arrival, coffee and donuts
9:45 - Depart for Peabody Essex Museum, a 10 Minute Drive
1:30 - Return to Phil’s shop for a business meeting to reestablish the chapter
2:30 - Slide show of some of Phil’s work
3:30 - Adjournment

We will carpool to the museum. The entry fee for a group of 10 or more is $10.00 per person which will be collected before we leave Phil’s

We plan to have lunch at the museum. You can bring your own or buy a soup, salads and sandwiches. Budget for around $10.00

The business meeting will determine the interest in a NE Chapter, or a Chapter with a narrower geography, say Eastern Mass. We will need to recruit volunteers to operate a Chapter. We need to consider possible chapter activities for future meetings like demos, places to visit, etc. Bring your ideas.

There is limited seating so if you can bring a folding chair. If you are planning to attend please inform Bruce Wedlock at [email protected] or 978-664-0653 so that he may plan for the coffee and donuts.
