All,
We had a good time mingling with the Midwest Tool Collectors. they made us feel very welcome. There were 7 of us present and we planned for the future of our chapter.
We decided to meet on the second Saturday of each quarter so our next meeting will be on July 14th from 9:00 to 1:00. The meeting will be held at the shop of Joel Ficke near Bloomer, Wisconsin (Yes we are crossing state lines!). People are welcome to come a little earlier and stay a little later but the meeting will be covered in that time frame. Our agenda will be as follows;
9:00  meet and greet
9:15  set agenda for October 13th meeting (we are hoping for period finishes by Randy Bohn)
9:45  Sharpening carving tools by Joel Ficke. Joel will demonstrate how he sharpens carving tools. We will also delve into sharpening other tools and setting up planes as time allows. Bring your dull tools to practice.
1:00  adjourn
More information and driving directions to follow.

We will also be getting together on Friday the 27th of April at 1:00 in Southdale Mall in Edina to view the work of the Minnesota Woodworkers Guild with an eye toward the work of two of our members Tony Kubalak and Joel Ficke. Hope you can make it.

see you there!

We all had a great time at Joel and Ronda Ficke's place. They have a beautiful house and yard. The lunch was superb, our thanks to the both of them. Joel gave a great talk about his methods of sharpening carving tools. There was a lively discussion of other methods and much information was exchanged. We all enjoyed seeing Joel's shop which was acclaimed by all as well appointed. (an olde time way of saying he has a good supply of tools!) As always it is good to see everyone and talk about our varying projects. It never ceases to amaze me what a great resource these people are.
The meeting was attended by Joel Ficke, John Walkowiak, Tony Kubalak, Michael Kabes,
Dean Jansa, Dave Meinen, Russ Moldrem, Bart Genovese, Jerry Seibel and Myself.
Looking forward to the next meeting in October in Stillwater, MN
Mike
