I only have so many benches Jeff because I teach classes and the students use them. Both of my older brothers are left handed. Never eat with a lefty on your right hand side!
Mare sea toats and doe sea toats and little lamb sea tivy. A kid'ill eat ivy too. "Wooden U"
We can never underestimate what we can learn from older brothers!
Your bench should fit the style that you work in. I would love to have a bench or benches as described but hand work for me? Not making much money pushing a plane all the time when a modern shaper can do the trick(most of the time). I know that is up for debate... I have existed for years on a simple maple bench top with a tail vise and metal shoulder vise. I use to work with an old german man trained in Germany after the war. Phenomenal woodworker, best I have ever seen. His bench? two saw horses and a piece of plywood on top and his hand plane was a cheap 20 job from the local hardware store..yeah he never used it...Like I said...I wish I had a great bench but you can get by with less.
