Cheers,
We will be demonstrating, having our meeting and camping during *Early Minnesota Trades* .
*Early Minnesota Trades*
August 2 (Saturday) 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
August 3 (Sunday) 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Come visit the many artisans polishing their skills at Eagle Creek
Village. From blacksmithing to woodworking and spinning to weaving
see how lives in early Minnesota were sustained by the tools of the
trades. Take a ride on a trolley pulled by Percheron draft horses and
play games. Special appearance by musician Ross Sutter both days.
Gift shop and food service available for purchase
Ages: 12+, $8.50; Ages: 3-11 and Seniors $7; Children under 3 are free.

The table and benches we are making are fairly basic so tools needed would be
planes to prepare surfaces of rough White Pine lumber. Layout tools
for mortise and tenon. Chisels, mallets and saws to chop and saw
mortise and tenon. These are fairly large joints, 7/8" and 1 1/2" to
2" wide. Sharpening stuff. Bring anything that might be of interest
to the visitors that you would like to share. Maybe we could set up
a low bench for kids to try out planing?
The goal is to look appropriate to the time between 1860 to 1890.
They will feed us at 5:30 and we will have our meeting when we are done eating.
Looking forward to it!
Mike Siemsen
