Thought I would let other SAPFM members that are in the NC, SC and VA area know - Klingspor's Woodworking Shop on Capitol Boulevard in Raleigh, NC has about 250 - 300 bf of freshly felled, kiln-dried American Chestnut for sale at the shop. These boards apparently came from a blight-free grove in Wisconsin, and are worm-free.
It's all 4/4, and all about 8' long. Some boards are clear, some have scattered knots. Widths range from a low of about 3-1/2" to a high of 8", with most boards being about 5" wide. Price is on special at the moment - $9.95 a b.f.
Not perfect, and I think we'd all wish for an opportunity to buy clear, 24" wide fresh-cut American Chestnut, but that's not going to happen in our grandchildren's lifetime, much less ours. And if you're into 18th century Newport furniture, this is a rare opportunity to buy material for drawer sides, small boxes, and the like.
P.S. - Other than being a regular customer, I've no connection with this woodworking store.
