JB- Thanks for the note about Albert Sack. I knew him pretty well. We disagreed about some specific aspects of a few pieces of furniture (at Israel Sack, Inc.), but he was an amazing source of info on early stuff. We were at the Met. once and he told me about finding the marble top Newport piece somewhere and barely fitting it into his car to drive it back to NY. I think it was pretty early on in his career and he was really proud to have found it at the time. Lots more stories but not enough time! We'll all miss seeing him at the Winterthur Furniture Forum.-Al

Yes, agrees, it is the end of an era. It was guys like Albert and his father Israel Sack, not to mention Wallace Nutting who together tirelessly championed American furniture as an art form in the early part of the 20th century. He will be missed.
