Get set to be blown away.

Steve Latta on the intricacies of a Federal card table. Bill Pavlak, Master Cabinetmaker at Colonial Williamsburg, inside the joinery of an 18th-century adjustable writing table. Steve Brown on measuring a museum piece properly enough to build it. Martin O’Brien on the conservation techniques he has developed over years with the MESDA collection. Joan Parcher on the brass — finding it, restoring it, casting it when there is none to be found. Sunday opens with the Metropolitan Museum’s Alyce Perry Englund on American japanned furniture.

It is the one weekend a year this group of makers, curators, and collections is in the same room, and Bob Van Dyke and the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking are hosting it.

Two bus trips bracket the weekend, both to rooms you cannot simply walk into: the Yale Furniture Study on the Friday, and the Stanley Weiss Collection with the John Brown House in Providence on the Monday. Seats on each are limited, and they go in the order registrations arrive.

Registration opens Friday, July 24, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.
