Manufacturing let a piece be formed as a single unit — a table whose top, pedestal, and base were one. The style stripped furniture to clean line and honest material, owing much to Scandinavian design’s simplicity and natural shapes. Charles and Ray Eames, Milo Baughman, Robert Broward, and Max Gottschalk were among its makers.
