Our presenter, Tom McLaughlin, is well known in the woodworking community. He is a frequent contributor to Fine Woodworking Magazine. He was featured on the front cover of the August 2021 issue with construction article on building a Shaker Chest of Drawers. He is also the host of the PBS “Classic Woodworking” TV show. As owner of Epic Woodworking, he hosts a weekly “Shop Night Live” program which streams live each Thursday evening at 8pm on YouTube.

Tom builds in a number of furniture styles ranging from 18th century through modern. Tom has been making and designing commissioned custom furniture since 1990. At age 29 he decided to pursue his love for fine furniture making full-time. His training launched forward when he entered a rare apprenticeship with master craftsman P.A. “Pug” Moore in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Tom remained close to Pug, even after branching out on his own, which included returning to his native New England roots where he’s been making furniture and teaching since 1997.

You can read more about Tom on his website:

In this 2-day seminar, Tom will be demonstrating “Methods for Designing and Making a Veneered Bowfront Table with a Drawer” Saturday’s discussion will include: designing the table, shaping the legs and apron, and making a bowfront drawer. The following day he will continue making the bowfront drawer, veneering the top, and concluding with a discussion on finishing options.

There will also be a Meet and Greet with Tom on Friday evening where Tom will discuss his work.

Both the Friday evening Meet and Greet and the 2-day seminar will be held at Mike Lonergan’s shop in Christmas, FL approximately 25 miles east of downtown Orlando. Directions, nearby lodging, and further contact information will be furnished to all that register.
