The Chesapeake Chapter will meet on Saturday, 20 January 2024 at Woodcraft in Harrisonburg, PA.

The Chesapeake Chapter is pleased to announce our upcoming IN PERSON meeting! Thanks to Mike Galloway for arranging for Woodcraft to host us.  We will collect $40 at the door (subject to decrease, based on # of attendees) to cover the meeting costs.

We are seeking volunteers for the show & tell portion of the meeting.

Date:  Saturday 20 January 2024

Cost:  $40

Location: Woodcraft in Harrisonburg, PA (Union Square Shopping Center) - 3831 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109
Time: 09:00 a.m. - mid-afternoon

AGENDA (subject to change based on presentation durations, and show & tell responses)

1. Open doors at 9:00am

Arrive, relax, meet new people and have some coffee and Dunkin Donuts

2. Introductions and Show & Tell
The “show and tell” is an ice breaker. Please bring anything you would like to show off. If you have a special piece, a project or even a jig, please bring them. For those who have not attended a previous meeting, this is a quick introduction, a display of your skills, interests, projects both past and present, a jig, etc. It can also be a request for help in a particular area to brainstorm solutions. After we go around the room, we will break for 30 min. During this break, you can seek out the other members who have similar interest and/or have already built a project/jig you want to build. This break will give you the opportunity to meet and establish a new friendship, pick their brains, and continue communicating with them after the meeting. This is extremely helpful for highly specialized niches, like inlays, marquetry, carving, and Bombay chests.

3. Keynote Presentation

The day's keynote speakers are Jeff Headley and Steve Hamilton of Mack Headley & Sons of Berryville, VA.  The will be presenting George Washington's tea table reproduction made for Arlington House and describing all that went into that process.  This project is on their webpage in the Furniture Tables section. https://headleyandsons.com

Jeff and Steve have over 100 years and 5 generations of family business experience operating in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and have many secrets to share.

We will break for Lunch on your Own...there are numerous lunch options in the plaza where we will be meeting

To register, please send an email to [email protected] so we can have a headcount, and to let us know if you would like to participate in the Show/Tell.
