July 17th Meeting - Furniture Conservation!
« on: July 02, 2010, 10:43:30 AM »
The SF Bay Area chapter will hold its next meeting on Saturday, July 17 from 1-4PM. The meeting will be held at  The Woodcraft Store in San Carlos.

We are very pleased to have Al Umhofer present a program on wood Coloring. The methods should be very useful for the group working with early American furniture. Al has developed several methods over his career to color wood so a replaced piece of wood did not stick out. His method does not cloud or muddle the grain, providing a crisp clear naturally looking surface. Al notes that are many descriptions in current and past literature  about this issue, but 99% are vague or not to be helpful missing the procedure, the quantities etc......some are pure nonsense.
