I would like to know if it is alright to use white birch for windsor chair legs or if it is to soft a wood to use. Thanks Ed

Ed,

In Michael Dunbar's book, "Make a Windsor Chair", he recommends soft maple or white (paper) birch for his leg turnings.

Birch is fine I use it all the time and have no problem. I have also used soft maple hard maple even ash, cherry and walnut.
