Use of glycerin with hot hide glue

I would like to learn more about using glycerin in hot hide glue, proportions, etc. Specifically, I am building a lowboy. The side pieces are M&T into the legs, where the grain will be apposing. I will put the side pieces under clamped tension in gluing up, but am also wondering about the addionnog glycerin to give the glue some flexibility.

I have not done this but hope to see some good answers. My default is to use old brown glue in this type of application (I'm mostly choosing it for the working time, not the flexibility). Would like to experiment a bit with extending the working time of hot hide glue, particularly in these colder months (my shop HVAC sometimes struggles to keep temps up).
