The Cabinetmaker DVD

Watched for the second time last night the Colonial Williamsburg DVD The Cabinetmaker that my wife got me for Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of actual woodworking technique shown in the video. I believe it was very well made and very entertaining. Well worth the $19.95 price for anyone interested in period woodworking tools and techniques. Master Cabinetmaker Mack Headley does a great job in explaining himself and it's a joy to watch someone of his skill work his craft. It was also fun to check out all the beautiful tools used, many made by Mr. George Wilson and Mr. Jon Laubach, true toolmaking artist. I only wish there were more videos out there showing 18th century methods using 18th century or 18th century style tools.

I agree. I have that one and have watched it a few times.  I wish they would do more too.  I wish Mack would do more to share his immense knowledge and experience.  I took a carving class from him and the class was almost a waste for my experience level at the time (absolute beginner), it was nice just to hear him talk woodworking, furniture, and history.  He is quite a resource.

I almost forgot that Rob millard has produced a series of videos...I haven't seen any, but his work is fantastic.  I may order one soon.  I'd like to build a work table someday.
