String Inlay for Federal period tappered legs.

Should I use 1/32" or 1/16" holly string inlay for the mahogany legs? I have been looking at pictures but it is hard to determine the size of the inlays.

Thanks,
Ed Stuckey

Note. This is for a Federal Card Table, New York Style.

I use 1/32. This is also real convient because you can buy Holly in 1/32 sheets. Also in the FWW 180 Steve Latta lists his source for 1/32 dremel bits.

I took the card table class with Steve at the Old mill, If I can be of any help let me know. I read the FWW article and they glossed over alot. You can also try emailing Steve he is very helpful, but sometime hard to get ahold of.

Tim,
Thanks for the information. I have all the spiral bits. I can also set them with scratch stock.
Steve used 1/16" inlay (1/32 holly plus 1/32 ebony) on the table in Finewoodworking, that's why I was asking the question.
