The Tidewater Chapter will hold its spring meeting April 27th. The meeting will start with a tour of Berkeley Plantation; its buildings and furniture (North of Williamsburg) at 9 am, followed by the rest of the meeting at the James City County Library (7770 Croaker Road). Steve Dietrich will do a presentation about German folk art painting on furniture in Germany and America, and Ray Journigan (2018 Cartouche recipient) will do a presentation on the Newport Corner chair (history, design, construction, carving). This presentation will also include his apprentice/journeymen builders of this chair sharing their issues/lessons learned. Note that this will be an in-person meeting (no Zoom). If interested in attending, please contact Jim Francis ([email protected])

Also, the Chapter will be conducting an outreach event at the Virginia Beach Woodcraft store on April 13th from 9 am to about 2 pm, depending on the number of customers. The scope of the event will be demonstrating and visiting with customers; pretty informal. If you're interested in participating, please contact Jim Francis ([email protected]).
