The SNEC will host a two hour talk and demonstration by Mary May. Mary will  be discussing methods of transferring designs to wood, techniques of clamping so your carvings do not get damaged (or your precious gouges), and basic carving techniques to get you started on your project. She will also discuss and demo the carving of a traditional Acanthus leaf. The meeting is May 3rd, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking  (http://schoolofwoodworking.com) in Manchester CT.   Pizza and drinks will be served.  Please RSVP by May 1, 2014.

Tony Gentile reports:
"This was a really good event. Mary's explanation of her technique was detailed yet not overbearing. Her passion for woodcarving is evident in her approach, both to teaching and the actual task at hand. The history lesson was a bonus. Thanks to Doug for coordinating."
