Reproducing A John & Thomas Seymour Ladies Worktable
Bob Stevenson Southern California Chapter SAPFM
This table, currently in a private collection, is shown in Robert Massey’s, “The Furniture Master Works of John & Thomas Seymour, Catalog entry 80. The table is one of two of a kind made by the Seymours about 1800 in Boston, MA. All of the case sides are unique in that they are all veneered the same to resemble drawers. Although the table looks simple in form, it has remarkable interesting, complicated neoclassical inlay.
Bob will discuss and demonstrate by way of video conference his approach in building a reproduction of this top of the mark piece of furniture of the period.
The lecture will include several videos to demonstrate techniques.
