Shelf life of shellac flakes

Is there a useful shelf life to shellac flakes? Does any body throw away old shellac flakes? I have flakes with purchase dates of 2009, 2011, 2019, 2021....and also a container as old as 1950's......would anybody trust these to perform as expected? I use 190 proof alcohol not the denatured from HD or box stores... Should I just toss and start with new? Seems a waste to toss a couple of pounds of flakes especially with the present prices......What are your ideas, experiences?

I have seedlac from the early 80's that still works fine. I would just try some. It should be obvious if it does not dry.
