The Society of American Period Furniture Makers-Great Lakes Chapter is conducting a 2-day workshop at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) on different aspects of period furniture construction and related historical perspectives. The workshop will be held Saturday, March 16, from 10:00-4:00 pm and Sunday, March 17th from 12:00-4:00 pm. Watch as DIA curators and members of the Society of American Period Furniture Makers walk guests through several period furniture construction techniques, demonstrating how various aspects of actual pieces from the DIA?s American collection were traditionally made.
