Local Member Presentations

It’s that time again for our fall SAPFM Fall meeting.  This will be a single day event featuring presentations by five of our local Florida chapter members on a variety of topics.

Here is a summary of the presentations:
1. Craig Aebli on veneering with hide glue and iron
An alternative to using a veneer press or a veneer hammer, Craig use just an iron and hide glue for some of his veneering projects
2. Martin Goodwin -- Construction of a Lebanon #6 chair
Having built one at Marc Adams with Kerry Pierce, Martin is now on his second one.  He will show the final assembly (minus gluing) as well as demonstrating weaving the seat with 1/2 inch rattan.
3. Jim Hamer -- Living With Wood Movement
We will be covering why wood moves with moisture variations, how to calculate the variations and how to allow for the movement. Plus a discussion on how  does finish matter ?
4. Joe Kunzman on federal period fan inlay
Sand shade fan inlays are use extensively in federal period futniture adornment.  Joe will demonstrate making a full oval fan inlay with some simple tools
5. Gary West on turning a quarter column
Gary will be show us how to turn a quarter column, then split the turning into 4 parts for adorning the corners of cabinets.

This program is open to all SAPFM members.  There is no cost to attend.  Lunch will be at one of the many restaurants the nearby shop.
