Just visiting an older topic......I started a new thread because it's been a while .....
So would it be foolish to attach a top to the base of a table or lowboy with pegs.....is there any "give" to the pegs to allow some expansion/contraction movement?
Knowing what we know today, modern living environments,joinery etc, how close to original construction methods should be followed? Should they be followed even if it is known to be a high risk of "failure" (splits etc)?......Still can't make up my mind to use angled pegs or nails/screws.......take a chance or not..the top of leg posts are small 1 9/16" and there is a dovetailed rail......decisions decisions....Thanks in advance for any replies.
