Online carving school discount

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been absent in the forum lately. Been a little busy.
I had a wonderful time at Woodworking in America this past weekend and saw a lot of my SAPFM friends. Thanks to Will Myers for loaning me his beautiful Moravian workbench. I want one!

I was offering a 15% discount to my online video carving school at WIA, and it is now extended to anyone until the end of the month. $8.49/month instead of $10/month.

I now have over 140 individual videos with 70 different complete lessons - including ball and claw foot, both Newport shells, several different rosettes, and within the next few months I'll have lessons for all the elements for the top of a Philadlephia Highboy. I'm adding a new video every week - and that's what is keeping me busy!

I visited your School of Trad Woodcarving, thinking seriously of giving it a try; but I was attacked by a screen that reserves 2" of vertical space for nothing much, a big "Your Logo" graphic. If I sign up, will this disappear on my Mac? You probably have no idea how much I hate this wasted space; but for somewhat lessor transgressions I refuse to visit even good friends' blogs.

Also, how do I pay for the lessons? Do I have to provide you a card that you charge monthly? Or can I log on and pay you "manually" every month?

Thanks,
Pam

Hi Pam,
I'm sorry you're not happy with the set-up of my school web-site. I hope that if you do choose to become a member that you find the video lessons much more appealing and enjoyable. The top of the page does show up differently on different computers - with the top logo filling up only the top left corner. When you watch the videos, you can enlarge them full-screen and that "front-page" information with the logo will not be seen.

Payment options are as follows:
$5/week for a trial run (payment through Paypal)
$10/month recurring (automatic monthly payment is withdrawn through Paypal until you cancel - this is the part that is now $8.49/month through the end of September)
$110/year (one-time payment through Paypal, and after a year, you can renew if you wish)
$110/year (optional payment by check if you are not comfortable with Paypal)

You can also become a free member and watch 14 lessons for free - mostly beginning carving videos (sharpening tools, basic carving cuts and some beginning projects) where you do not have to go through Paypal at all.

I also have several videos on my youtube channel, which are free.

One other thing that is helpful for workshop study is that the videos are available for download, so you don't have to be online to watch the videos.

I hope this answers your questions, and also hope that you will enjoy the lessons if you choose to become a member.

My endeavor in starting this school was to share this wonderful art of carving to as many people as possible - because I truly love it.

Thanks!
Mary

Pam, what device were you using when you saw this very large logo? I have double checked on both my PC and Mac and it shows up quite small. Was this on your phone? Ipad? I'd like to fix this, so would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks.

Thanks, Mary. I'm using a regular 13" laptop and Firefox. I'll take a screenshot to give you an idea. BTW, I think most of these problems are due to most everyone programming for iPhones and iPads, always get that little 3 bar thing.

Also, Paypal is fine. A note: 8.49 * 12 is 101.88. How long is this special in effect? If I sign up during this month, when does it revert to $10/mo?

Here's a shot of my full screen.

Thanks,
Pam

Thanks for sharing that screen shot. That helps a lot and there's definitely something odd about that layout. That's not how it shows up on my laptop or desk-top.

Can you do me a favor and send me an e-mail with that screen shot? I can forward it to the guy who puts together my website and I'm sure he will have an answer.

You can sign up for the 15% discount (8.49/month) until the end of the month and will continue as long as you stay a member. So yes, you are correct that the yearly cost with the discount would end up being $101.88.

Thanks!

Mary, kudos to you and Bob for fixing this so quickly. It was a problem with the blog development routines that were trying to accommodate Mac Retina screens and not finding what they needed; so the software defaulted to generic.

Pam
