Hi folks,
Just a short general line.  Thoughts are up and generating about the next meeting.  Tom Schlenker has tentatively agreed to a new meeting hosted at his place.  Not definate yet.  I am thinking we can possibly use Alan Turner's school shop as a meeting place for impromptu meetings on the open shop nights.  If Alan goes ahead with them.  And agrees.  I think they will be thursday or friday nights.  I think if we would use equipment there would be a 40dollar charge.  Just ideas at this time.  I will host one at my messy shop once the heat is fully set up.  Only half heated now.  If there are others out there who want to grab a date and host go for it.  Now that Adam Cherubini is on the list he will be getting the news.  He had said last year he might be able to host something at his museam that he spends some time at.
I just spend a great weekend at the Ny antiques show on the americana weekend at nyc.  I have been doing it for years.  The wives go and love it as they can have visits to fancy stores etc included.  We went to Sothebys in the morning as they have an americana auction every year on the sat morning of the 20th jan.  Our resolution for next year is to actually bid on something.  This year we saw and item go for 100$.  That is in my price range.  Its great to see all the fancy pcs strewn all over on the various floors.  We also saw the 2 keno twins and Wendall Garrett at the auction.  Its funny to see all the bidders sitting or slouching all over someones fancy expensive pc that was just bought.  There is also another show down on 18th street.  I believe that one is called the American Folk Art antiques show.  Christies also has an americana auction that weekend.  So all in all it is a great weekend to be up in nyc to see great antiques.  People watch too.  This all started one year as an alternative to the main sapfm show down in Williamsburg.  2 reasons.  One the womenfolk didn't want to go and the seminars were getting stultifiyingly boring.  I mean you can only see dovetails made so many times.  What I miss is the meeting of all the various people who are so great to talk though.
What I am encouraging is getting you southern folks to come up north (I will post this on the chapter sapfm site too) and see how real furniture is made!  Perhaps we could have a submeeting of sapfm folks meet that weekend in nyc.  I know this is a subversive thought.
regards to all,
more thoughts and info to follow

ps Hi bob,
Send me a email and I will put you on the chapter email list.  I am new to the new set up of the main sapfm site and have found it takes some getting used to.  So I am only now starting to use it.
