My name is Bob and I'm a woodaholic. I aim to make my own designs--something for each room in my house--using tools and techniques pulled out of a 1880s tool chest that came down to me. I have a minor problem with acquiring wood faster than I can use it, and for some godforsaking reason just bought an early 1800s-ish chest of drawers, so now I'm into...what--conservation? restoration? undoing fixes somebody did 100 years ago? I have no formal training other than having been raised on family weekend getaways to Colonial Wmburg and having liked Sir Roy more than Capt. Kangaroo. I sometimes try to imagine being a farmer in the Shenandoah Valley, 150 years ago: it's cold now, dark outside, family is ready for the soup. How the heck am I going to shoot that edge? Why am I going to do it that way, instead of just tapering it, and go eat?
